So many of you are going through difficult times right now and facing tomorrow can be one of the most difficult things.
Recently, while thinking about hardships of those close to me, I shed some tears which caused my mind to run straight to my girl. It always does when life pulls at my heartstrings.
And when it does, I can see my darling Lydia sitting on the carpet with our beloved black lab Chester, stroking his head while singing, Tomorrow, one of her favorite songs.
She adored the movie Annie and this song was at the top of her list. I often think about her performing it, picturing her cute smile, wishing I could hear her voice one more time.
In the movie, Annie would sing this song in the orphanage to cheer up her friends and lift her own spirits when they were feeling down.
“Just thinking about tomorrow, clears away the cobwebs and the sorrow, til there’s none. The sun will come out tomorrow, so you gotta hang on til tomorrow, come what may…”
These lyrics got me thinking…. That’s what we do. We hang on. Day by day. Barely. And sometimes all we can do is minute by minute. The sun will come out tomorrow. Will it really?
Lydia believed it would. She was full of anticipation and wonder, eager to see what tomorrow would bring. But what if the sun doesn’t come out? And how could we possibly want the sun to rise knowing the uncertainty that lies ahead and we are facing life without our precious ones?
How do we look for sunshine in the darkness?
When we’re stuck with days that are gray and lonely, how do we stick up our chin and grin when our hearts are breaking?
It’s an impossible feat at times, making us not want to see the light of day. So what do we do?
We must intentionally search for sunshine and grasp glimmers of hope wherever we can find them, while resting on the promises of Jesus in the meantime.
He will sustain us. He is the beacon of hope and rays of warmth amidst our dark clouds. He will make beauty from our ashes, meeting the needs of our shattered hearts hour by hour.
Tomorrow, tomorrow, you’re only a day away.
This is a reminder to hang on. God is with you. Because of Him we can face tomorrow. You can do this.

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
