Essential Self-Care Tools to Boost Your Well-Being Daily

“Just another tool for your toolbox,” she repeated the phrase so many times I lost count, forever imprinted in my mind.

As she lathered my hair, I soaked up her generous advice on conditioners and life. She was full of wisdom in every area and we connected instantly like old friends. I didn’t want my appointment to end. This hairdresser was an absolute blessing.

Her words resonated with me, making me ponder the depth of those few simple words.

ANOTHER TOOL FOR YOUR TOOLBOX ….

Yeah, my tool box has been full and completely empty at times.I reflected back on different phases in my life, recollecting where I was lacking and other times I was in abundance.

 What was in it now?

My toolbox has held many things at times:

 Grief

 Life

Self care

New beginnings

Hope

Love

Faith

Friends

Happiness

Support

 Connection

 And so much more…..

Each one of these has many components to it too. We need different tools for different times in our lives, constantly adding to our tool boxes, taking inventory and replenishing. This is essential, fine tuning for our souls.

What do you need to add to your toolbox?

Coping strategies?

Self-care?

Sleep?

A day off of work?

A friend to cook you dinner?

 A wild adventure?

 Love?

Someone to hold you?

Hope?

Sunshine for tomorrow?

 A hug?

Someone who gets it-one who completely understands your pain because they’ve been through it too?

Uplifting Scriptures?

Knowledge about heaven?

 Something to look forward to?

Encouragement?

A hobby?

 A purpose?

What exactly is your body and soul telling you that you need?

Navigating life and loss is so hard. It takes a valiant effort to constantly be evaluating our needs.

Make no mistake, I have lost tools over the years, had rusty tools that had been neglected, tools that were buried at the bottom of the box, some I never even knew I possessed. It’s our responsibility to keep taking self inventory.

We need to be able to recognize what we need and know where to find it.  Some tools are small, some are big, some are for daily use, others rarely used, regardless, every tool has purpose and meaning.

When we have the right tools, we are able to nurture those parts of us that are worn and weak.  What can you replenish to help get you through?

Reach out and fill your toolbox.

Take care of you.
